WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - State workers celebrated the grand reopening of the Waterbury State Office Complex on this day in history.
Tropical Storm Irene devastated the 100-acre campus in 2011, filling buildings with as much as eight feet of water. Twenty buildings had to be torn down, while others were renovated. A new 86,000-square-foot building was added as part of the reconstruction.
The $130 million project is the largest state building project in Vermont history. The grand reopening took place on December 14, 2015, more than four years after the flood.
“I’m so honored to be here on behalf of Vermonters to cut the ribbon on what is undoubtedly the most beautiful, energy efficient, usable, state office complex in the United States of America,” said an official at the reopening ceremon
