ST. PAUL, Minn. — Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala, 40, has been found guilty of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon and causing bodily injury.

U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen says on June 17, 2025, law enforcement officers attempted to arrest Munoz-Guatemala, a convicted sex offender, on an immigration order.

During a traffic stop, Munoz-Guatemala refused to cooperate. After several warnings, an agent broke the vehicle's back window to gain entry. Munoz-Guatemala then accelerated, trapping the agent's arm and dragging him for more than 100 yards. The agent suffered significant injuries.

Munoz-Guatemala, who is illegally in the U.S., was previously convicted in December 2022 of sexually abusing a minor in Hennepin County.
