DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative has unveiled significant updates to support SNAP shoppers amid rising grocery costs and food insecurity.
These updates aim to enhance access to fresh fruits and vegetables during the winter.
The initiative has reactivated over $75,000 in previously expired Double Up Food Bucks, with an average refund of $12.53 per user. Additionally, the quarterly expiration of these benefits for 2025 has been canceled, allowing families to maximize their budgets for purchasing produce.
Furthermore, more than 2,600 active users received a one-time payment of $9 in Double Up Food Bucks, totaling more than $23,500. This funding was sourced from the Double Up Food Bucks emergency fund, supported by contributions from Iowans and organizations such as V
