TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Manatee County deputies said they located a body in a retention pond Friday.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office on Friday night, the body was located at the southbound off-ramp of Interstate 75 and State Route 70.

"The deceased appears to be a male, but the identity of the individual has not yet been confirmed," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

This comes at the heels of a search for Giovanni Pelletier, a teenager from Fuquay-Varina, was last seen walking on I-75 and SR-70 just last week. CBS 17 reported Friday that officials found his cellphone and backpack in that area.
