RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A billion-dollar boom is happening in downtown Raleigh.
The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is touting the downtown's growth and economic impact and looking ahead to development and even more business in the annual State of Downtown Report, released Thursday.
Community officials talked about how it's an exciting time for downtown Raleigh and all of the growth it's seeing.
The annual event had more than 500 civic, business, and community members meeting at the Martin Marietta Center.
According to the report, $8.3 billion of downtown development investment has been completed, planned, proposed, or under construction since 2015.
More than 4,500 residential units have also been added in the last five years, according to the alliance.
