Lincolnites with thoughts on how to make the city's streets safer will have the opportunity at an open house Thursday.

The open house from 5-7 p.m. at Elliott Elementary School, 225 S. 25th St., is part of the Safe Streets Lincoln project aimed at reducing serious injury crashes by 60% and ending traffic fatalities by 2045.

Roberto Partida, a city transportation planner, said the open house will be similar to four pop-up events the city already hosted for the project.

"We have engaged with community members, asking them: 'How do you travel in Lincoln?' and 'When you do, what's your lived experience?'" Partida said. "Data can only tell you so much, and we want to have some of that qualitative piece to really provide us a more well-rounded picture of our transportation system."
