THORSBY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - For months, neighbors living in Thorsby Villas say they’ve been dealing with serious flooding issues every time it rains and they believe a newly built softball field is to blame.

Residents say floodwaters are damaging homes and vehicles, turning their parking lot into what one described as “a lake.” The flooding occurs near the intersection of Jones Street and South Dakota Avenue, right next to the new field built in February.

Elizabeth Hester, who has lived in the neighborhood for nine years, says the problem has gotten worse since the field’s construction.

“It got worse and very bad,” Hester said. “It came up in my house twice, and it was really bad.”

Hester said neighbors now worry any time a storm is in the forecast.
