BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A pedestrian was struck along a major interstate east of downtown Birmingham early Monday morning.
According to Birmingham Police, the person was hit on Interstate 20/59 at the Messer Airport Highway exit.
Officials said the person suffered injuries, but did not clarify the extent.
The incident caused delays Monday morning for drivers headed east out of the city, as police had two lanes closed just before the I-20/59 split.
Police said no one is currently in custody as they continue to investigate what happened.
