HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. (WNCN) – A biotechnology company set to bring hundreds of new jobs to the Triangle area broke ground on its new manufacturing plant in southern Wake County on Monday.
Genentech, a biotechnology company based in California, plans to create 420 high-paying jobs in Holly Springs through a deal to invest $700 million in the project, state officials said.
Monday’s event was dedicated to celebrating the beginning of construction for Genentech’s first manufacturing facility on the U.S. East Coast, company leaders said. The plant will support the production of next-generation metabolic medicines, including treatments for obesity.
The project will also bring nearly 1,500 construction jobs to build the facility, officials said. • (Courtesy: Genentech) • (Courtesy: Genentec
