WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — Felony littering usually means dumping trash where it doesn't belong. But a man is facing the charge in Wake County for allegedly crashing his car into the Wake Forest Reservoir while fleeing deputies.

According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted to pull over 31-year-ol Kawan Grant of Wake Forest near Edgemont Road and Hodge Road in Wendell.

Deputies said Grant sped off, leading them on a chase down Pulley Town Road and Traditions Grande Boulevard until he lost control of his car and crashed into the Wake Forest Reservoir.

Crews pulled the car out of the water on Tuesday morning.

That same day, Grant made his first appearance in Wake County Court. A judge set his bond at $30,000.
