NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Food service workers at Sodexo contracted by Connecticut state colleges and universities say enough is enough, and they want raises and a 40-hour work week.
They rallied together Tuesday on the campus of Central Connecticut State University in New Britain .
Latifah Black has worked at University of Hartford for five years and says something has to change.
"I'm a single mom of four and I deserve to have more hours at one job than having multiple jobs to make ends meet,” Black said.
Jose Figeurora said one of the reasons he came out Tuesday afternoon was to stand in solidarity with his fellow co-workers.
He’s worked for the University of Hartford’s dining service and agrees the hours aren’t enough.
