BELLAIRE, Ohio — A parole hearing for Nathan Brooks, convicted in one of the most horrific crimes in Ohio Valley history, has been postponed until November. No further details have been released.
Brooks was 17 when he killed both of his parents inside their Bellaire home in 1995. Authorities said he stabbed and shot his mother, then beheaded his father and placed his head in a punch bowl. Investigators also found a list of other potential targets.
Now, 30 years later, Brooks is seeking parole. Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan said his office already has recommended that parole be denied. "Two people were killed in this case, in a horrendous fashion," Flanagan said. "And then we also had the fact that there was a list... that has stayed with us."
