Roads were blocked off and a hazardous device technician came out to a Lincoln neighborhood Wednesday morning because of a "suspicious article."

The suspicious article turned out to be feces, an official said.

Police said the feces and a plastic bag were in a mason jar and police did not know whether the feces was human or animal.

A Lincoln Fire and Rescue spokesperson said the technician was called to investigate a suspicious article found by a homeowner in the 2200 block of South 46th Street, near the intersection of South 48th Street and Normal Boulevard.

In an update about 9:30 a.m., the spokesperson said the article was not a threat, and streets were soon reopened.
