DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — Four local charities are getting a major boost thanks to a generous donation from the Shawn Esfahani Foundation, helping families, survivors, and even pets across the Gulf Coast.

A $1 million donation was split between Prodisee Pantry, the Lighthouse, Penelope House, and the Baldwin Humane Society. Shawn Esfahani said the donation was in honor of Southeast Toyota founder and his mentor, Jim Moran, who passed away in 2007.

"A life is not defined by how much money you make and the cars you sell. It is really like Mr. Moran said, how much you give," Esfahani said. "It is our responsibility to do something that is significant and important."

The foundation has given more than $4 million to local nonprofits and said that this is only the beginning.
