For years, Kevin Burgert has been driving 200 miles to Memorial Stadium to cheer on his favorite football team.
But this week, the game is finally coming to his backyard as the Huskers kick off against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Nebraska native’s admiration for the Cornhuskers started at a young age growing up in Julian and attending games with his parents. That love continued to grow as he moved to Omaha to attend medical school with his wife, Natasha.
In 2006, the couple moved to Overland Park, just south of Kansas City, where they now work as pediatricians.
