OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Pickleball players could soon have new courts to compete on in Ottumwa.

Cracks, growing weeds, and worn-out courts will no longer be the conditions at Troeger Park.

The Friends of Ottumwa Parks presented a proposal to city council to give new life to the tennis courts by building new pickleball courts.

The approved project from city council is what organizer, David Nino said is needed.

“We realized that Ottumwa has pickleball facilities, but Ottumwa does not have a competition level public facility for pickleball and that’s what we’re trying to do here,“ said Nino.
