If a buyer of the now-shuttered Gallucio's Italian Restaurant property in Wilmington's Forty Acres wants to alter or demolish the historic 159-year-old building in violation of strict neighborhood conservation rules, they will face fierce opposition, neighbors promise.

The restaurant, which occupied a former saloon and hotel built in 1866, abruptly closed Aug. 24 and is for sale , according to co-owner Sergio Pellegrino.
