SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Claire’s announced it would be closing hundreds of stores on Thursday, Aug. 28.

The jewelry retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and plans to close more than 290 stores.

Claire’s has two locations in Siouxland:

Sioux City: Southern Hills Mall, 4400 Sergeant Road #234

Norfolk, Nebraska: Sunset Plaza, 1700 Market Lane

KTIV confirmed the Sioux City location is not closing. The Norfolk location could not confirm if it was closing or staying open, but that location is on the company’s closure list.

According to our sister station KCRG , the Des Moines, West Des Moines and Ames locations are expected to close, while stores in Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls and Coralville are among those slated to remain open.
