MANHATTAN, Kan. — The UND football team is opening the 2025 season against a stout Power Four opponent.

The Fighting Hawks are traveling to Manhattan, Kansas, to take on Kansas State for the first time in program history this Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.

The Wildcats have not lost to an FCS opponent since 2013, when they suffered a 24-21 defeat to North Dakota State.

Kansas State had a close call against South Dakota at home in 2018, scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to secure a 27-24 win.

Saturday’s tilt marks the beginning of a new era for UND. Eric Schmidt, hired in December 2024, will take the field for the first time as the Hawks’ head coach.
