Mayberry Park has officially reopened in Greenville’s Unity Park.

City leaders, community members and baseball fans gathered together to celebrate the new Little League baseball field on Aug. 28. It is located near Unity Park’s Auro Bridge and the nearly completed Honor Tower.

Mayberry Park honors the legacy of the city’s only park for local Black children during the time of segregation. The new ballfield features a 220-foot field, grandstand bleachers, batting cages, a scoreboard, a press box, home and visitor dugouts, concession stands and more.

The $3.2 million baseball field was funded through a public-private partnership between the city of Greenville and private donors. Greenville Drive owner Craig Brown and his wife, Vicki, served as the lead donors for the new field.
