An incident involving an armed suspect has led police to issue a shelter-in-place order for the area of Onondaga Rd. and Sixth Line in Ohsweken.

“We recognize the significant emotional impact that receiving a shelter-in-place advisory can cause. The OPP is taking every precaution necessary to resolve this situation. We ask all members of the public to take actions to protect their safety while police work to apprehend the individual,” Ontario Provincial Police said in a release on Saturday morning.

Police did not provide any details or description of the suspect or further details about the incident leading to the order.

The order advises people in the area to:

Seek shelter immediately and secure your safety inside a building or other secure location.
