The city of Toledo and its partners are providing opportunity to young adults and teenagers like Jaylen Wright, 15.
Jaylen and others like him are not only learning new skills while helping the city address blight, they’re also getting paid $20 an hour.
“We’ve been learning weed whacking and cutting grass,” he said.
Sixteen teenagers and young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 will spend the next few weeks helping older residents and people with disabilities keep up their properties through the intergenerational improvement program, which is the result of a partnership between the city of Toledo, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Ohio, and Mr. Snow Removal & Landscaping.
“It’s a win-win for everyone,” said David Takats, chief mission officer for Goodwill Industries of Northwest Oh
