Two people have been treated by paramedics after a horsebox overturned on the A19 . The emergency services were called to the A19 southbound between the A690 at Houghton-le-Spring and the A1018 at Seaham just before 11am on Sunday morning.

One lane was shut and there was congestion for two miles, with drivers facing delays of approximately 45 minutes. Lanes were confirmed to have reopened shortly before 1.30pm.

Two patients were treated at the scene by paramedics while another two people refused treatment, reports Chronicle Live . No further details have been released at this time.
