Sheridan Smith 's new drama I Fought The Law has generated a big buzz.

After its TV debut on Sunday night (August 31), many viewers are keen to discover where The ITV show was filmed.

Last summer, excitement rippled through various North East locations, starting in the heart of Newcastle city centre, as the cast and crew of the true crime drama arrived to begin production.

Led by Cilla and No Return actress Sheridan, the series focuses on the murder of 22-year-old Billingham mum Julie Hogg by William Dunlop, and her mother Ann Ming 's relentless pursuit of justice.

Ann's determination to secure justice for her late daughter led to a historic change in the double jeopardy rule, after Dunlop had been acquitted twice at trial.
