ITV's I Fought the Law tells the heart-wrenching true story of a mother's relentless pursuit for justice, as her daughter's murderer was shielded by an archaic law.

Sheridan Smith portrays Ann Ming, the mother of Julie Hogg, who was brutally killed at her Billingham residence in 1989 by William 'Billy' Dunlop. Dunlop was put on trial twice for her murder, but was acquitted under the double jeopardy law after the jury failed to reach a verdict on both occasions.

Julie, who was just 22 when she died, had recently separated from her husband and was working as a pizza delivery driver.
