A North Carolina winery was destroyed by fire Sunday.

When firefighters arrived they said they found a large column of black smoke and additional firefighters were called.

Union Volunteer Fire Department Vale

Five departments with 40 firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 10:30 a.m. and continued to put out hotspots throughout the day.

WoodMill Winery

Firefighters said the Lincoln County Emergency Management was also contacted to mitigate the large amount of wine runoff from the wine manufacturing and storage that was in the structure that burned.
