Simcoe neighbours will be able to weigh in this week on a proposal to move the downtown Leon’s store to a property formerly housed by Peavy Mart on Queensway West.

The proposal needs municipal approval as the furniture store would be a larger size than the 3,000 square-metre limit for commercial operations currently allowed in that area.

Leon’s Furniture currently sits on a large property in the heart of Simcoe’s downtown, on Norfolk Street North.

Although the Queensway property’s zoning allows a wide range of commercial uses, it doesn’t permit furniture sales specifically, so Norfolk Council would have to adjust that, as well.
