A significant threat made against the Tánaiste’s children over the weekend warned that they would be kidnapped and violence carried out against them, the Irish Independent has learnt.

An Garda Síochána’s counter-terror unit is continuing a major investigation into the threats, which are being treated as “credible”, and efforts are ongoing to identify the person behind them. Messages were posted on a Meta ­social media platform over the weekend in which threats were made against ­Simon Harris’s family.
