BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A permanent memorial to honor the 10 victims of the May 14, 2022 racist mass shooting is closer to becoming a reality.

The 5/14 Memorial Foundation held its monthly board meeting Tuesday, where architects and leaders shared design ideas for the memorial, and emphasized the significance it holds for the Buffalo community.

The memorial, titled "Seeing Us" by Alligood Song Architecture PLLC, is set to be built on an empty lot on the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Best Street on Buffalo's East Side.

During Tuesday's meeting, the architects detailed how each piece of the memorial symbolizes support, learning, and healing.
