AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — Only a few days into the start of the academic year, one Western New York school has already received a threat of violence.

A Sweet Home Schools spokesperson confirmed to WIVB News 4 that a non-credible threat was made against the high school on just the second day of classes.

According to Joseph Lucenti, Sweet Home High Schools’ interim principal, the school received information that a threat had been made, which prompted an immediate response from the Amherst Police Department.

In a statement, law enforcement told the school their initial investigation confirmed that the information was credible. They later determined with confidence that the person responsible was not a student and was located outside Western New York.
