Additional CCTV cameras are being used throughout Darlington to prevent crime and identify suspects. Darlington Borough Council has access to 14 deployable cameras for responding to anti-social behaviour, including the use of off-road motorcycles on a short-term basis, which the fixed CCTV camera system may not cover.
Four are currently in use, with plans for a further two set to be rolled out across the borough. Paul Branch, CCTV and security control centre manager, said the deployable cameras enable local agencies to address crime and keep communities safe. The cameras also help the police identify offenders, leading to their arrest and prosecution.
