IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa City City Council plans to transform the old Roosevelt school building into nearly 200 affordable housing units, addressing a critical need in the community.
It has been 13 years since the last students attended the old school, which closed in 2011 after 81 years. The building remained vacant until it was sold to developers in 2021.
Chandler Tinsman and his wife moved to their home on the West side of Iowa City 5 years ago, near the vacant Roosevelt building. For them, it’s the perfect location for people who are constantly at work.
