TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - A weather balloon in the sky over southern Arizona had plenty of people wanting to know what it was.

13 News viewers called the newsroom curious about the object.

13 News reached out to WorldView, a company that does remote sensing and Earth observation from stratospheric high-altitude platforms.

In a statement to 13 News, Worldview says: “We launched one of our stratospheric balloon systems, called a Stratollite, this morning from our headquarters south of the airport. We’re testing a number of R&D improvements to our system on a multi- day mission that will have our system fly to the east. We’ll operate this system between 50,000-75,000 feet as we navigate the stratospheric winds to our destination.”
