BRINGING your smartphone to the bathroom with you could raise your risk of a painful condition, warns new research - with potentially deadly consequences.

Scrolling while sat on the loo is linked to a 46 per cent higher likelihood of developing piles - also known as haemorrhoids, say scientists.

Participants in an American survey who reported using a smartphone while on the toilet had a "significantly higher" risk of haemorrhoids than non-users.
