Welland Market Square is getting decorative illuminated archways and new modular seating.

Upgrades also include large planters to add greenery, enhanced lighting to boost evening safety and create ambience for events, a bike repair station and bicycle racks, and hardscape restoration work to address wear and improve accessibility.

In a memo in the latest online city council information package, facilities project co-ordinator Mariannie Laurence said the majority of requirements for the project have been ordered and are awaiting shipment.

Her memo said a detailed design was completed, as was co-ordinating materials and installation.
