COOS BAY, Ore. - The Coos Bay Police Department has welcomed a new member to its team, thanks to generous community support.
Arco, a 16-month-old Belgian Malinois, joins the CBPD as its newest patrol K9. According to the department, the purchase and training of Arco, which cost approximately $28,000, were made possible through donations from local businesses and individuals.
Arco was acquired from Alabama Canine and will undergo a six-week handler course with Officer Ryan Scoville to complete their patrol team certification. This addition brings excitement to the CBPD K9 team, which also includes Officer Smith, Officer Nolan Scoville, and K9s Mika and Ben.
