High pressure will shift offshore Thursday into Friday bringing summer-like temps back to eastern NC.

Thursday will start off around 60° over inland areas. Sunny skies will combine with a south breeze to warm the highs to the mid 80s by mid afternoon. The beaches will start in the mid 60s and peak around 80°.

By Friday into the weekend, winds shift more southerly ahead of an approaching weekend cold front. The south winds will bring much warmer air back into the Carolinas. Inland highs will likely reach 90° by Friday with low 90s Saturday. As the front approaches Sunday, our next chance for scattered showers and storms returns by Sunday afternoon.
