FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Two men who got away from a high-speed pursuit in Fond du Lac County late Wednesday night were arrested after returning to the scene of the crime.

A deputy tried to stop a vehicle in Rosendale because the owner didn’t have a valid license to drive. The car sped up and ran a stop sign, and eventually the pursuing deputy lost sight of the car on a curve. He found it nearby, where it crashed into a ditch at Highway 23 and Rose-Eld Rd.

A sheriff’s K9 and a police drone failed to locate anyone who’d been in the car.

Then, while officers were waiting for the car to be towed, the suspected driver, now a passenger, passed by the crash scene in a second car.
