ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A North Georgia woman is preparing for surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital after having her face broken in many places by a crowbar that hit her while riding in a car on the interstate.

Redell Patterson said he was driving with his fiancée, Tina Lee Williamson, on I-85 near Commerce in Jackson County at around 2 p.m. on Aug. 29 when it happened.

Patterson said at first, he thought she was shot because it was so loud and happened so fast.

“The first thing that came to my mind is she isn’t gonna make it,” said Patterson. “She touched me and she said, ‘Call 911.’ I looked at her and I see a horrifying image.”

And when Patterson pulled over, he saw what had done the damage.
