Dare County to launch Wreaths of Honor project

Wreaths will be placed at more than 400 Veterans’ graves

At its meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Dare County Board of Commissioners will hear a presentation from Veterans Advisory Council Secretary Lisa Lloyd about a special inaugural effort to honor those who served in the U.S. military.

The first annual Wreaths of Honor project, organized by the Veterans Advisory Council with Outer Banks VFW Post 10950 Auxiliary, plans to place wreaths on about 420 Veterans’ graves in five cemeteries in the county. The wreaths will be placed on December 6, 2025, and removed on Jan. 10, 2026.
