The Detroit Lions have found a third quarterback.
C.J. Beathard has signed with Detroit's practice squad, the team announced Thursday. The Lions adding a third arm is no surprise, and Beathard, a veteran quarterback entering his eighth season, fits what head coach Dan Campbell spoke about Monday.
"I would say that we’re looking for somebody that, if we need them, we know they can run the show, that they can run the offense, they can process the information. ... Somebody you just know (if) they get in the game, they’re going to get you in the right play, be smart with the football and all those things," Campbell said, making it clear the team was not interested in a developmental project.
In a corresponding move, defensive end Isaac Ukwu was released from the practice squad.
