WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (WFSB) - A man was arrested after a dog he abandoned attacked an animal control officer.

On June 20, 2025, Woodbridge Regional Animal Control responded to the area of Carriage Drive in Bethany after a report of a possibly injured German Shepard in the area.

When Woodbridge’s animal control officer attempted to secure the dog, police say the dog lunged at her, knocking her to the ground and causing her to hit her head on the driveway.

The dog also bit her several times on the wrist and forearm.

The ACO requested assistance from Woodbridge Police, Connecticut State Police and Bethany EMS.

The dog was eventually brought under control, and the ACO was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
