RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - Cybersecurity is not what it used to be and it’s becoming more important.

A program at Radford University is teaching people what they need to know to become professionals in the field and keep people in our hometowns safe from online threats.

It sounds like gibberish to most people.

“I’m learning some new stuff like learning SQL and how SQL databases are attacked and the how websites can be attacked with SQL backends,” said Tim Shelton.

But these are the skills in cybersecurity Shelton is learning to keep people safe in a digital world.

“There’s going to be lots of stuff with network-based vulnerabilities and attacks and how to prevent those,” he added.
