ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) -- Trash and debris were seen left at an Elmira park near the Chemung River on Thursday, along with other apparent campsites in wooded areas.

Pictures above show tables at the Community Pavilion on Grove Street in Elmira by the boat launch area covered with a variety of trash items on Thursday, Sept. 4. Further along a walking trail past the water stream called Hoffman Brook, other piles of trash were seen in wooded areas, which are prohibited to trespassers.

Stephen Jakob of Elmira said that it’s a recurring issue and further added that people use the park for walking and playing with their children.
