CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (WBTV) - A Chesterfield County woman is continuing to recover from severe injuries after being mauled by two dogs.

The county’s animal control officers say the 78-year-old woman has a long road to recovery but is in good spirits.

WBTV spoke with a family member off-camera who said the woman who was attacked should be coming home soon.

The two dogs involved are currently being held at the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter. Animal Control said they’re working to educate people to prevent incidents like this in the future.

The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control are investigating the dog attack that had the 78-year-old woman airlifted to a hospital in Charlotte.
