BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Some neighbors in the Blount County town of Remlap are concerned about a proposal to build a waste medical facility in the area.

The Blount County Commission held a public hearing Thursday morning with some neighbors questioning where the waste is coming from and whether it could be harmful their children.

“We’ve got people that’s lived in this community for 40, 50, 60 years and they’re willing I think to take a stand to stop this and maybe they can just move somewhere else,” said Scott Wortham.

According to the developers, machines would reportedly grind medical waste into shredded material before hauling it to a landfill.
