ROTHSCHILD − The Riverside Fire District has received a grant to purchase water rescue life jackets.

The grant is part of the WPS Foundation's Rewarding Responders Grant program, which supports local first responders with equipment and training, according to a community announcement.

The new life jackets will allow emergency medical technicians to safely respond to and assist people in distress on waterways.

“This equipment means our responders can train and respond to incidents in a safer manner,” said David Briggs, Riverside Fire District fire chief. “The WPS Foundation supports us through a collaborative partnership while we support and serve community members and visitors. Without assistance through grants such as these, we would not be as effective in our service to others.”
