Alex Larson didn’t plan on making an early round of golf the most memorable part of his morning, but a lottery win did the trick.

Larson, a banking professional from Sherwood Park, found out he had won $1,000,020 from the Aug. 1 Maxmillions draw while checking his email before heading out for a round of golf with his boss.

“I was playing golf — real early tee time with my boss — and just checking my email,” Larson said. “It was from Play Alberta and it said, ‘Congratulations on your win!’”

“I was kind of groggy, but when I saw the win… I was awake!” he laughed.

Larson said despite the excitement, he still made his tee time.

“I shared the news with my boss, and he was pretty excited for me — there were a lot of high-fives,” he laughed. “Actually, he said, ‘Breakfast is on you today!’”
