CINCINNATI (ENQUIRER) - The U.S. Department of Homeland Security mistakenly accused a Cincinnati imam of “murder and terrorism” in a country he had never visited, our partners at the Cincinnati Enquirer report, citing a court filing.

The Trump administration admitted the mistake in the case of Ayman Soliman, a former chaplain at a Cincinnati Children’s hospital who was detained by immigration authorities in July after losing his asylum status.

The accusation had been listed in a footnote and was not central to the government’s case against the imam. But the imam’s lawyer argued it could have a “significant potential impact.”
