PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria Police arrested a man Thursday who they said is responsible for robbing a postal worker at gunpoint in July .

Just before 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, police said they were called to the area near the PCCEO Head Start building on West Butler Street. When they arrived, officers found the postal worker, a 62-year-old woman.

She told police an unknown man approached her and showed her a handgun before stealing her personal and running away.

Officers brought a K9 unit to the scene, but they were unable to pick up a lead on the suspect that afternoon.

That was the case until Thursday, when detectives were able to identify 28-year-old Malachi Alexander as a suspect. Police found him on North Rockwood Drive and West Gilbert Avenue and took him into cust
